Patoka Lake Fishing Report 6/15/08
6/15/2008 12:00:00 AM

Patoka fishing is improving greatly in the last few days .
Crappie are being caught just about anywhere you can find weeds in 8 - 12 feet of water . Drifting minnows works as well as traditional jig heads and curly tails . We saw some 12 - 14ers coming in today .
Bass are being caught by swimming jigs over weed beds , jerk baits and large 10" motoroil colored worms , texas rigged .
A few White Bass are being caught on white rooster tails when you are luck enough to catch them working a school of shad on the surface .
Bluegills are nesting and can be caught on crickets , beemoths and beetle spin type lures . Find the nesting sites is the key .
Its about time the fish are starting to cooperate at Patoka Lake .
Stripers are still asleep .

6/7/2008 12:00:00 AM

Kevin Patrick and Kathy Darnell from Jeffersontown IN , joined Rusty of J & R Guide Service on 6/7/08 and caught two Channel Cats , several small Crappie , three in the 14 range and some in the 10 range on Southern Pro Jigs Heads and the Popcicle Hot Grub  The surface temp. is nearing 80 degrees and the Crappie spawn is all but over . Some nice Crappie can still be caught  but it takes alot of moving and hard fishing . We believe that some Crappie fishing on the Main Lake would be a good alternative right now especially with all the new flooding and muddy water above the causeway . The catfishing is really warming up so this might be a fun choice for action . Bluegills on the nest would also be a good joice .

Patoka Fishing Report
6/7/2008 12:00:00 AM

We have been with clients on Patoka on the 6th and 7th with some very slow fishing results . With a couple of missed Striper blowups , a few small Crappie and a few small Bluegills we donot have much to report.  I have talked to some Catfishermen and they say that the Catfishing on Patoka is very good right now . Bait has been shad guts and sunfish . Catfishing can be really fun and they fight extra hard . Give it a try . The Strippers have never really turned on this spring . We are preparing to get in on some of these big CATS shortly .
